Walls and ceilings

To report a repair:

What is the problem?

Cracks or holes in a ceiling or wall plaster

Which room is it in? How did this happen? What area is affected?

Are there chips, cracks or patches?

You are responsible for repairing hairline cracks, nail holes or other decorative faults.

Ceiling bulging

Which room is the problem in? What area is affected?

Is there water leaking from a radiator or burst pipe, or through the roof? See Heating and hot water, Pipes, taps and water or Roofs and chimneys.

Plaster loose or crumbling

How did this happen? You are responsible for any damage you do.

Which room is the problem in? What area is affected?

Wall tiles loose, cracked or broken

What size, colour and shape are they? A exact match may not be possible.

How many are loose and how many are broken?

Dampness, moisture or mould on walls

Which room is it in? Where is it showing?

Could it be condensation? You can take steps to prevent this. See Dealing with condensation.

Brickwork or render damaged

Where is the problem? What area is affected?

Cladding boards or hanging tiles lifting, falling off, loose or damaged

Where are the boards or tiles? How many are affected?

How high up are they? What shape and size are they?

Are they above an entrance or walkway?

Other problems with walls or ceilings

What is the problem? Do you know what is causing it?

Is it causing any other problems or damage?
