Door locks

To report a repair:

What is the problem?

Key lost, broken or stolen (outside door) or you are locked out

Which door is it? Is a forced entry needed? Is there another way of getting in?

You are responsible for this repair. We can carry it out for you but you must pay in advance. You should report any theft to the police and get a crime report number (not an incident number). If we gain entry for you, we may charge you. You may be able to claim this back on your own contents insurance.

Lock loose, stiff, broken or not working (outside door)

How did this happen? If it is criminal damage, report it to the police and get a crime report number before contacting us (not an incident number).

Which door is it? What type of lock is it? You are responsible for repairing or replacing any extra locks you have had fitted.

Is the door made of wood, metal or plastic?

What is the problem, for example, is the lock stiff, broken or not fitting properly?

Can you still open and close the door? Can you still lock the door?

Latch or catch not working or handle broken (inside door)

Which door is it?

Does the door just need adjusting? See Doors and frames.

Door closer not working

Which door is it? Is it a shared door?

Is it an overhead or chain (Perko) closer? What is the problem, for example, is the closer loose, stiff or broken?

Door entry phone not working

Which block is affected?

Is the problem in your flat or at the main entrance door?

Are your neighbours affected?

Have you switched it off by mistake? Check your instruction leaflet.
